"Today I met with Jamie Moffett, Sarah McEneaney, and John Struble of the Reading Viaduct Park - Philly's Park In the Sky. It is one the the most progressive and 'green' ideas in the 1st District. I am proud to endorse this project, and I will make it a priority in my Administration."

Sandy Salzman and New Kensington CDC support Philadelphia's Reading Viaduct

"Philadelphia has a long, proud industrial history, with everything from shipbuilding along the Delaware River to the many factories which dotted the neighborhoods. None of this would have been possible without the backbone of the Reading and Lehigh Viaducts.

These large swaths of land are ready to be transformed into something we can be proud of once again…green space that can be used for walking, biking or just sitting and looking over the city. The Reading and Lehigh Viaducts present an opportunity for the City of Philadelphia to be among other world class cities like New York and Paris that have embraced this type of vision."

John Randolph of the Schuylkill River Trail endorses Philadelphia's Reading Viaduct

John Randolph

"That $17M was awarded by the Federal government last year to continue the River Trail along the entire length of the Philadelphia Schuylkill shows what we have all learned from the Schuylkill Banks project: that green infrastructure is a huge bang for the buck.

When I started on that project twenty years ago, no one believed there would be any economic spin-off that would justify the $14M project. Today there are half a billion dollars worth of residential and commercial projects that are either on the river or that brag about their proximity to the Schuylkill Banks, and there is at least an equivalent amount being planned.

There is no question in my mind that Philadelphia's Reading Viaduct Project will lead to the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhood."
